UWinteriM

In order to receive aid for UWinteriM, you must complete an application first. The application(DOCX) is generally posted around October 15 each year.

Important Dates

October 12, 2026: Registration for UWinteriM begins.
November 11, 2026: Approximate date UWinteriM eligibility will be posted in PAWS if application received and eligibility requirements are met (see below).
December 1, 2026: Priority deadline for meeting all the eligibility requirements (see below) for first UWinteriM Disbursement.
December 7, 2026: First UWinteriM disbursement.
January 4, 2027: Priority deadline for meeting all the eligibility requirements (see below) to be awarded.
February 15, 2027: Last Day to complete electronic Master Promissory note for UWinteriM loan.

Submit the 2026–27 FAFSA and all required financial aid documents. Do not use the 2027–28 FAFSA for UWinteriM.
Enroll in at least 3 Winterim credits and have completed at least 6 undergraduate credits or 4 graduate credits during the prior fall semester.
Most students are eligible for UWinteriM aid only if they have remaining Fall Direct Loan eligibility. Review current federal loan rules.
The deadline to complete a Master Promissory Note for a UWinteriM loan is February 15, 2027.
Loan eligibility is based on annual federal loan limits and your combined Fall and Winterim enrollment. Students near or at their federal borrowing limits may not qualify for additional loan funds.

If you have reached your annual federal loan limit:

Dependent students may apply for a Parent PLUS Loan (credit approval required) or a Private Alternative Loan.
Independent students may apply for a Private Alternative Loan.
Eligible graduate students may be able to apply for Graduate PLUS loans (credit approval required).

UWinteriM aid eligibility is posted in PAWS beginning in mid-November and updated weekly. Students will be notified by email.
Aid begins disbursing on or about December 7, 2026, with additional weekly disbursements as needed.
To receive funds in time to pay your bill, complete all requirements by December 1, 2026.
Disbursed aid is applied to tuition charges by the Office of Student Accounts. Any remaining funds are refunded through direct deposit or mailed check.

Undergraduate students must successfully complete 66.67% of all attempted credits.
Graduate students must successfully complete 50% of all attempted credits.
Academic Progress status for UWinteriM aid is reviewed after Winterim grades are posted.
Attempted credits are based on enrollment as of the first day of UWinteriM classes.
