Starr publishes chapter in “New Frontiers and Connections in Second Language Acquisition”

The selection focuses on the role that inhibitory control plays in second language learners’ sensitivity to context. In particular, the work examines awareness of the ‘Question Under Discussion’ (QUD) when interpreting pragmatically underinformative quantifier phrases involving the quantifier some. Starr’s findings suggest that aspects of executive function facilitate learners’ integration of contextual information, thereby supporting L2 comprehension of pragmatic inferences.
