Puerto Rican bomba: free drum-and-dance workshop

De-stress with a drum-and-dance workshop as we wrap up the semester! Join renowned percussionist and Bembé Artist-in-Residence Beto Torrens for a hands-on workshop on Puerto Rican bomba, an Afro-Indigenous genre that is the island’s oldest music and dance tradition. Try out different traditional instruments and learn some dance moves from UWM alum Imani Jalil of Milwaukee’s own organization Bembé Drum & Dance. No experience necessary – come learn about this rich musical genre!
