Math Colloquium: Applications of Data Science in Major League Sports

Data science is a continuously evolving field that lives at the intersection of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. Many industries have started to utilize data science to extract valuable information from their data to assist with strategic planning and decision-making. One such industry is professional sports, where data science is used to maximize both player and revenue performance. In this talk, we will review applications of data science that drive revenue for professional sports teams.
