Hidden Treasure: Finding Women Dealers and Collectors of Far Eastern Art in Paris, 1858-1914

Elizabeth Emery, Professor of World Languages and Cultures at Montclair State University, is giving a free public talk about her recent book Reframing Japonisme: Women and the Asian Art Market in Nineteenth-Century France, 1853-1914 (Bloomsbury Visual Arts, 2020) and her digital humanities project with the National Institute for Art History in Paris, “Connoisseurs, Collectors, and Dealers of Asian Art in France, 1700-1939.”
