Adapted from Annie Ernaux’ 2020 eponymous novel recounting her traumatic recourse to an illegal abortion. In 1963, Anne the social renegade daughter of working-class parents faces the dilemma of risking her life and aborting or having the baby and sacrificing her future in a race against time, a few months before sitting for her final exams at university.
