Overview

Neuroscience is a fascinating field that combines various disciplines to understand the nervous system, aiming to improve the human experience by addressing neurodevelopmental issues, psychiatric conditions, and neurodegenerative disorders.

Majoring in neuroscience leads to careers in medicine, research, psychology, pharmaceuticals, public health, and science communication. Graduates with a bachelor’s degree can find opportunities as technical lab assistants, clinical aides, and in pharmaceutical sales and marketing.

The program emphasizes hands-on learning with engaging lab courses and research projects, fostering problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Graduates gain a deep understanding of the brain and the practical skills to make a positive impact in their fields.

Neuroscience Major

At the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), the Neuroscience major is an interdepartmental major shared between the Department of Biological Sciences and the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. Accordingly, the degree requirements appear in two places, but they are the same in both listings.
