The federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Wisconsin Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) allow a qualifying employee to take unpaid leave for certain specified reasons. The laws are designed to protect employees with serious health conditions or certain specified family responsibilities who take needed time off from work without pay.
