Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowships at UWM for 2020-2021

The Center for Latin American & Caribbean Studies (CLACS) and the Center for International Education (CIE) at UW-Milwaukee are offering Foreign Language & Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships for the study of less-commonly taught languages for the academic year 2020-2021 and summer 2020. 
Students in any major are welcome to apply. 
 
Deadline: March 1, 2020

 FLAS Awards: Academic Year 2020-21
 Undergraduate students

  • $5,000 stipend
  • $10,000 maximum tuition award
  • Languages available through CIE: Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian
  • Languages available through CLACS: Portuguese
FLAS Awards: Summer 2020

 Undergraduate students (CIE only)

  • $2,500 stipend
  • $5,000 maximum tuition award
  • Languages: Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian

FLAS Awards: Summer 2020
Graduate students (CLACS only)

  • $2,500 stipend
  • $5,000 maximum tuition award
  • Languages: Portuguese and other less-commonly taught languages of the Americas (Haitian Creole, Kaqchikel, K’iche, Mixtec, Nahuatl, Yucatec Maya, etc)
