World Languages Continuing Education

The Continuing Education division of the College of General Studies (UWM-CGS) at UWM at Washington County and Waukesha is proud to offer a variety of languages to suit all levels of learners. Whether you are looking to enhance your resume, navigate while traveling abroad, engage with members in your community or just expand your horizons, let our talented instructors transport you into a new world!

Our Washington County and Waukesha campuses offer both Spanish and German at multiple levels of learning. In Continuing Education (CE), we believe that everyone deserves to learn in an environment that is safe and supportive. We offer Spanish & German courses to the novice, with our Spanish I and German I, all the way to the intermediate learner, with Spanish VI and German IV, including those looking for a professional certificate. NEW! Certificates in World Languages

The Continuing Education division of the College of General Studies (UWM-CGS) at UWM at Washington County and Waukesha has recently partnered with UWM-School of Continuing Education (UWM-SCE) to offer our students more advanced opportunities to learn. Courses are available at the Washington County, Waukesha, or downtown Milwaukee campuses. Students can now take advantage of a more flexible schedule!

The Spanish Language Certificate provides the tools and develops the skills you need to read, write, and speak Spanish. Through six core courses and an oral proficiency interview by computer (OPIc), work with our experienced instructors to strengthen your Spanish language skills. All courses are available through all campuses via online, or at the Waukesha campus in-person. This certificate uses the standards from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

The German Language Certificate provides the tools and develops the skills you need to read, write, and speak German. Through eight core courses (the first four of these courses can be taken through our Washington County and Waukesha campus via Zoom, while the last four courses can be taken with UWM SCE and an oral proficiency interview by computer (OPIc), you will work with our experienced instructors to strengthen your German language skills. Courses are offered as an online certificate and uses the standards from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).
