There’s a lot of latitude at UWM to speak your mind, but we’re all responsible for our actions. If you believe someone has crossed the line between speech and misconduct, you should report it.

The university has robust but fair disciplinary processes for students, faculty and staff. Those accused of misconduct have an opportunity to provide their own account and to appeal any disciplinary action. Learn about the investigation process related to hate/bias incidents.

University Response to Hate Speech

Hate speech is hurtful, and when it happens, it raises questions about what should happen next. We’ve created a log to inform the campus community about speech incidents, clarify the rules that come into play and document how the university is responding to incidents. This transparency ensures we continue our efforts to make this a civil and respectful campus. Find the incident log.
