Katherine Waldoch Cougill

Katie is a Wisconsin native and joined the Office of Equity/Diversity Services in August 2018. She is responsible for preparing the Affirmative Action Plan and assists with investigations, investigative report writing, legal research, and other investigative tasks. Before joining UWM, Katie worked as a consultant, drafting and editing legal documents. She also has a background working with children with special needs. She graduated from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities in 2009, receiving a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology of Law, Criminology, and Deviance.

Continuing onto law school, Katie obtained her J.D. in 2013 from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. She sought to further and supplement her education, graduating with honors from Johns Hopkins University in 2016 with a Masters of Arts in Government with a focus in Security Studies. Katie has a constant desire to learn, and she believes a fourth degree is in her future.

Katie is very passionate about helping others and has dedicated much of her adult life to public service. During law school, Katie studied abroad in Costa Rica and completed a Human Rights Law program. Katie strives to help others, and she is very committed to the work she does at UWM. She is a mother to a young boy, Sebastian, and it is her goal to set an excellent example for him through her work in the realm of equity, diversity, and inclusion.
