Led by Associate Vice Chancellor Kay Eilers, SEMSS is a large and highly integrated division composed of multiple functional units. Our organizational chart reflects this breadth of responsibility. SEMSS is intentionally structured around three primary pillars of work, each led by a Chief Officer with responsibility for strategy, operations, and cross divisional coordination within their functional domain.

  • Student Recruitment & Outreach is focused on building and sustaining the student pipeline.
  • Student Enrollment Operations oversees the systems, policies, and financial processes critical to college access, affordability, and enrollment continuity.
  • Student Retention & Success centers on persistence, timely progress, and post-graduation readiness.

Together, these three pillars enable SEMSS to operate at both strategic and operational scale while maintaining strong alignment with academic units and institutional priorities. The SEMSS Leadership Directory highlights the directors of individual departments.

Collectively, SEMSS staff manage high-volume, high-stakes operational work while also leading long-range strategic initiatives tied to the university’s Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) plan. Through annual planning, assessment, and reporting processes, the division continuously evaluates effectiveness, adapts to policy and market changes, and scales efforts to meet institutional priorities. The size and scope of SEMSS reflect UWM’s commitment to enrollment stability, student success, and institutional sustainability, with work that touches nearly every student and academic unit on campus.
