Dr. Handley recommended America on Fire: The Untold History of Police Violence and Black Rebellion Since the 1960s (2021) by Elizabeth Hinton, Begin Again: James Baldwin’s America and Its Urgent Lessons for Our Own (2020) by Eddie Glaude, Jr., The Warmth of Other Suns: The Epic Story of America’s Great Migration (2010) by Isabel Wilkerson, and Invisible Man (1952) by Ralph Ellison.
