The Department greatly benefited in 2025-2026 from the Niho Research Excellence Fund. Established and generously funded by Professor Emeritus Yoshio Niho, it promotes Departmental research. It allows research expenditures and trips that would otherwise be impossible. We deeply thank Yoshio and all the many dedicated alums and friends who have contributed to the Fund. Here’s what happened last year:
- Scott Drewianka – Renewed AEA membership and renewed statistical software.
- Kundan Kishor – Presented at the Federal Forecaster’s Conference in Washington DC and presented at the International Symposium of Forecasters in Montreal, Canada
- Itziar Lazkano – Attended the Heartland Environmental & Resource Workshop. Hired a PhD student for research assistance.
- Matthew McGinty – Presented at the World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists.
- Antu Murshid – Hired a PhD student for research assistance.
- Rebecca Neumann –Presented research at the Midwest Economic Association Conference in Chicago and hired a PhD student for research assistance.
- James Peoples – Purchased statistical software and a new desktop computer.
We would love to have your support of the Yoshio Niho Excellence Fund (#4626) as we work to raise the research profile of the department. Give here.
