Professor Sunwoong Kim Retires

Prof. Sunwoong Kim retires!  Sunny joined the Department in 1989 teaching urban economics and mathematical economics. His broad research interests included the importance of spatial aspects of markets, economic development, discrimination, the economics of education and the interaction of politics and economics. His work appeared in the Journal of Political Economy, the Review of Economics and Statisticsthe Journal of Urban Economics and the American Economic Review (P&P) among many outlets.

He was a committed advisor and teacher.  He enjoyed visiting appointments at universities on three continents and served as a Fulbright Scholar.

He also served as Department Chair, and on many important department, college and university committees. As a retiring Chair, Sunny’s photo was added in the conference room to those of other Chairs who retired before him. He will be greatly missed by all who know him. We wish Sunny a long, fruitful, and enjoyable retirement!
