Giessen University Summer School

Prof. John Heywood led the annual exchange to Justus Liebig University in Giessen Germany.  He and host Prof. Juergen Meckl each taught classes to UWM and Giessen students.  Research seminars were given and good times were enjoyed by all over the six week term.

This vital exchange started with an initial visit by Boris Pesek in 1987 and was solidified the following year by Emeritus Professor Yoshio Niho.  The Department proudly displays the Justus Liebig Metal awarded to Prof. Niho in 2008 recognizing his contribution in establishing this successful partnership.  Our 40th anniversary is almost in view!
