Department Helps Bring Economics to Local High School

Working with the UWM Office of Dual Enrollment, the Department helps facilitate introductory economics at Shorewood Public High School near our campus. The high school students receive both high school and UWM credit for the class. Evan Schmidt teaches the class with guest lectures from Professors Matthew McGinty and James Peoples. The high school students attended UWM in late November to learn more from Professors Kundan Kishor, Rebecca Neumann, Vivian Lei and John Heywood. The hope is that this experience excites the students to pursue economics either at UWM or elsewhere.
