Department Alum Wins Paper Prize

Michael Coon (PhD 2012) is the winner of the biennial Eckstein Paper Prize given by the Eastern Economic Association (EEA).

He received the Prize for his paper “Walking ATMs: Do Crime Rates Affect Remittances of Mexican Migrants in the United States?Eastern Economic Journal (Winter 2015, Volume 41, Issue 1, pp 6–23).

The Eckstein Prize honors Otto Eckstein, a Harvard professor and former president of the EEA. It is awarded biennially to the best article in the Eastern Economic Journal and Mike won for the period 2015 -16. The Prize and a $1,000 award will be presented at the 2018 EEA conference in Boston.
