Stream & Quarantine: How Entertainment Drives Human Connection

Join FUEL Milwaukee for a conversation about how entertainment continues to foster togetherness amid unprecedented isolation. They will be talking with TK Carter, a Hollywood legend, plus local talents who are at the heart of Milwaukee’s thriving entertainment scene. The webinar chat will be moderated by Dr. Donte McFadden, who earned his masters and doctoral degrees in English and Cinema studies at UWM. Donte is also the co-founder of and co-programmer for Milwaukee Film’s Black Lens program.

Social Good Morning: Social Innovation During Social Distancing

Social Good Morning presents a discussion with Dr. Anne Basting, Juli Kaufmann, and Mark Fairbanks (UWM Lubar Entrepreneurship Center Social Entrepreneur in Residence) on Social Innovation during a time of Social Distancing. Start the morning off with open networking, music, and BYOC (bring your own coffee), then enjoy a discussion with local leaders.

Geocaching Excursion
12 pm – 4 pm
Explore your local community (wherever you are) with Geocaching, a perfect “social distancing” event that can be done alone or with folks you currently live with! Download the Geocaching app on your phones and head outside at NOON on May 2nd to start your adventure. ADDED BONUS: Post what you found that day on Instagram Story (tagging @CAB_uwm and @dostuffUWM), and three winners will be chosen at random to win some awesome prizes, which includes a HydroFlask and CAB-themed gear. Students will have from noon to 4:00 p.m. to share their photos. Each Instagram Story post equals one entry into our prize giveaway. Winners will be announced the following week.

Diverse Ideas: Young Enterprise Society

This event is co-hosted by Jackson House, LLC and the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center to feature entrepreneurial speakers from a diverse set of backgrounds in Milwaukee. The mission of guest Young Enterprising Society (YES) is to mobilize people, information, resources, and capital for the greater good of its members and society at large. Boswell Book’s second virtual event. Milwaukee author Neubauer’s debut novel is Murder at the Mena House. Synopsis: Well-heeled travelers from around the world flock to the Mena House Hotel, an exotic gem in the heart of Cairo where cocktails flow, adventure dispels the aftershocks of World War I, and deadly dangers wait in the shadows.

UWM Virtual Innovators Expo

The fifth annual UWM Innovators Expo exhibits a collection of UWM community prototypes, ideas, startups, student orgs, partners, classes, and innovations. This event has been the pinnacle of celebration for the Lubar Entrepreneurship Center. Circumstances have shifted us to an online format for this year’s event.

DIGITAL ARCHIVE PROJECT

Covid-19 MKE
The project aims to document how the Milwaukee area is experiencing the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. It was built by students in Professor Christopher D. Cantwell’s “Local History Research Methods” class and is hosted by the Golda Meir Library at UWM. All of the material on the site, however, was contributed by members of the greater Milwaukee community. Your contribution is welcome.
