Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to a new academic year! I hope you were able to find some moments of renewal and rejuvenation over the summer months. I look forward to working with you as we step forward into a new year, full of promise and opportunity. For me, student success has always been my guiding star, and I know our faculty and staff share this sense of dedication to our students. I have been impressed by so many examples of our employees going above and beyond to help students. That commitment comes to life in the many ways our students learn, compete, create and engage across campus. I encourage you to attend an athletics event, a fine arts performance, a planetarium show or simply get out of your office for a walk across campus. I am already looking forward to tomorrow’s soccer game! September is a busy month with some key events:
- Inauguration Ceremony and Celebration
I am thrilled, humbled and honored to be inaugurated as UWM’s 10th chancellor later this month. I invite you to attend both the ceremony and the reception that follows on Friday, Sept. 25. Please RSVP if you wish to attend. - UWM Doors Open Milwaukee
I am pleased to announce that for the first time UWM is the presenting sponsor of this great community-wide event. We will have nearly 40 locations open to the public, plus a Makers Market on Spaights Plaza, on Saturday, Sept. 26. - Panther Family Weekend
The last weekend of September is our Panther Family Weekend, which is a wonderful opportunity for families to join their students on campus.
