Biography

Amanda Wagner is an architectural designer and educator focused on historic preservation. At the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, she helps lead the Historic Preservation Institute, guiding students through hands on preservation work. She helps runs the Measured Drawings Seminar at Herstmonceux Castle in England, where students collaborate with Queen’s University to document the site’s layered architectural history.

Committed to expanding access to design education, Amanda teaches architecture to younger students through UWM’s College for Kids, encouraging creativity and inclusion from an early age.

Before joining UWM, she worked at Kahler Slater on projects like the Milwaukee Athletic Club, CD Smith Headquarters, and Westmoor Country Club. Today, her work with the Historic Preservation Institute supports communities across Wisconsin, partnering with agencies and nonprofits on documentation, research, and adaptive reuse - bridging education, advocacy, and stewardship.
