Community members, advocates, and researchers gathered to address Milwaukee’s growing affordable housing challenges during a panel hosted by the Center for Equity Practice & Planning Justice. Led by director Dr. Kirk Harris, the discussion emphasized the structural causes of housing insecurity and the need for community-informed solutions.
Panelists highlighted the increasing number of residents spending more than 30% of their income on housing. As one speaker noted, “It’s not just about building more units, it’s about building the right kinds of housing for the people who need it most,” underscoring the equity-focused approach central to the Center’s work.
