What it’s like to study at the School of Architecture & Urban Planning

Expect engaging coursework that challenges you to think like a designer, blending technical skills with creativity. You’ll explore how architecture and the built environment affects human behavior, and you’ll work alongside peers from across the university to tackle real-world problems. The minor also offers a glimpse into the possibilities of career paths in architecture.

Plus, we offer graduate programs in architecture and urban planning that do not require specific undergraduate degrees. That means our minor could lead you to graduate studies here.

Architectural Studies Minor Program Details

The Minor in Architectural Studies is designed for students who are not majoring in Architecture or Architectural Studies. Some students use the minor to explore possible graduate studies in architecture and some develop architectural specialties with other disciplines, such as engineering, studio art, business or theater production.

Coursework introduces essential concepts that bridge architecture, design, history and more. You’ll gain skills in drawing, fabrication, and visual communication — plus insight from practicing architects and visiting professionals who bring fresh perspectives and opportunities.
