Tiffany Thornton

Outreach & Community Engagement Librarian

How do you contribute to UWM’s goals?

I work with local schools to assist in providing an academic library and college experience, with the goal of eliminating perceived barriers and making college an attainable post-secondary option for a greater number of students including those in our GEDO2 program. On campus, I work with diverse student populations, assuring their awareness of our library resources and services through programming and outreach. In addition, I chair the Library Advisory on Diversity Committee, and serve on both the ADA and Accessibility Advisory Committee and the Veterans Advisory Council to the Chancellor.

What would you like people to know?

I am a Milwaukee native and a product of Milwaukee Public Schools. In addition, I obtained both of my degrees from UW-Milwaukee. My ties to the Milwaukee community assist my efforts to help our students in obtaining their education and career goals, by utilizing all available resources, including our UWM Libraries.
