Management, MS: Accounting

MS – Accounting students are qualified to take the exam upon graduation from the program. It may also be possible to take the Exam prior to graduation if the student completes 15 graduate or 24 Undergraduate credits in accounting and 15 graduate or 24 undergraduate credits in business and economics. The details are contained in Wisconsin law, Accy 2.203 (3).

All students must have at least 150 credits coursework to be licensed in Wisconsin.

Illinois

To take the CPA Exam in Illinois, you must have completed 150 credit hours of education. That requirement is met if you earn the UWM MS – Accounting or MS-Professional Accounting degree.

The 150-credit requirement can also be met with a UWM BBA in accounting with additional credits to total 150. That includes at least 6 additional credits in accounting.

Students passing the CPA Exam in Wisconsin may still have to meet these requirements to be licensed in Illinois.

Management, MS: Professional Accounting

MSPA – Many accounting majors go on to the fifth year MS – Professional Accounting program to gain additional coursework to prepare them for the content of the Exam and to gain a specialty in auditing, tax, or advisory.

All students must have at least 150 credits coursework to be licensed in Wisconsin.
