Special report on the Walsh Harness Company located in Milwaukee circa 1954. Footage profiles men who have been in the harness business for 40 to 60 years and shows clips of interviews with them seen at work benches using sewing machines and manual craftsmanship. It also includes harness racing at a track with spectators in the bleachers. A brief dramatization of order placement for a farm harness informs viewers how the harness business is declining: Prior to the 1950s, the company received 500 orders for farm harnesses a week, but that lowered to only one every six months. Some footage is silent.
The Walsh Harness Company was founded in 1914 in Milwaukee and innovated the no-buckle harness; today it is known as Walsh Products in Brookfield.
