Documentary footage on the Milwaukee downtown redevelopment plan from the autumn of 1973. This segment includes clips from several interviews with unidentified men — businessmen and legal experts — who comment on the city’s redevelopment proposal for the downtown area west of the river. Issues discussed range from plans for new shopping center skywalks and the history of the proposal competition to the economic background of fundraising, investment, and taxpayer involvement. A fourth man addresses “right of condemnation” in enacting the plan for urban revitalization. Footage also features shots of the Nicolette Mall Skyway, plazas and fountains, the downtown skyline, and a major construction site.
This is one reel of two; also see SR377.
