Circus Parade in downtown Milwaukee

Summary:

Footage of the Circus Parade in downtown Milwaukee for Old Milwaukee Days sponsored by the Schlitz Brewing Company. The segment includes shots from the various sections of the parade, opening with many historic circus wagons from the Baraboo Circus World Museum. Among these wagons are those dedicated to North America’s founding European empires (of Britain and France), the Revolutionary War, and the United States Armed Services; there are also decorative wagons carrying caged animals like African gray cranes. It then shows the children’s section with clowns and the Wild West section featuring a stagecoach and man on an American bison. There is additional footage of elephants and a baby hippopotamus walking in the parade, followed by their cleanup crew. The film repeats sections and includes behind-the-scenes preparation of offloading wagons from the train. The Circus Parade was the culminating event for 4th of July weekend.
