The World Languages & Cultures (WLC) department is home to a variety of majors and minors in world languages, as well as Global Studies, Translation and Interpreting Studies, and Comparative Literature. With degree offerings in Arabic, French, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish, our curriculum spans every inch of the globe.

Pursuing a double-major or minor in a world language compliments any major at UWM. Whether you’re studying business, health sciences, engineering, or the arts, a language minor can give you a competitive advantage in our global economy.

Select the program of interest below for full details on requirements, advising, and more. Please note that some of the languages at UWM are taught outside of the WLC. For a comprehensive list of languages offered at UWM, please visit the UWM Languages website. You can also explore the related programs section of our website to find non-language degrees, cultural degree departments and programs.

Lastly, be sure to explore our student resources to get a taste of what life as a UWM student is like. Successful college students take advantage of all the resources available to them and graduate, not just with a degree, but with a full resume of experiences that can lead to that first post-college job or acceptance to their preferred graduate program.

Use the navigation menu or browse UWM’s student support services site to explore everything available to you at UWM.
