Teaching Interests

Morgan's teaching interests include representations of girlhood in young adult literature, the history of American Girl dolls and books, and 1980s series fiction including Sweet Valley HighThe Baby-Sitters Club, and Nancy Drew

She is also interested in experiential learning and teaching. Two of her courses, WGS 489: Internship in Women's and Gender Studies, and ENG 150: Multicultural America, include experiential learning, and she works closely with the Center for Experience and Talent (SET) on campus. 

Research Interests

Morgan is interested in Girlhood Studies, young adult and children's literature, popular culture, and contemporary U.S. literature. 

As a 2023-25 CETL Experiential Teaching and Learning Fellow, Morgan also contributed to a Toolkit for UWM teaching staff and faculty who are considering integrating careers in the classroom. She is happy to talk more about experiential learning and teaching, as well as careers in the classroom--just reach out!

 

Biographical Sketch

Morgan received her PhD in English in May, 2022; her thesis explores the intersections of race and girlhood in contemporary young adult fiction.
