Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month

Observed in the United States during the month of May.

In 2023, a team of UWM campus stakeholders came together to offer a calendar of programs that were associated with AAPI cultures and identities to count down to AAPI Heritage Month. The mission of this calendar is to recognize the historical and cultural contributions of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and to celebrate the rich cultures and identities of the AAPI communities at UWM.

Southeast Asian Youth Education & Career Conference

Since 2001, a consortium of secondary schools, colleges, and universities in the Milwaukee area, including UWM, has organized the Annual Southeast Asian Youth Education & Career Conference to support Southeast Asian American high school students. The conference aims to connect colleges and universities with prospective students while introducing first-generation and underrepresented Southeast Asian American students to educational and career opportunities.

Traditionally, Southeast Asian students from across Wisconsin have been invited to attend this impactful event. Recent conference hosts include UWM and Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). The conference offers a variety of engaging experiences, including guest speakers, workshops, campus tours, and college and resource fairs.
