Matt Steigerwald, MSW, CSW

Matt Steigerwald serves as the BSW program director and senior teaching faculty in the Social Work Department and brings experience in both macro and micro social work practice to his role. Matt's diverse professional background includes direct practice in child welfare, program and policy analysis in foster care and adoption at the state level, and work in settings such as special needs adoption and residential care. As an educator deeply committed to fostering connections with students, Matt believes that experiential learning and the opportunity to practice social work skills within the classroom are critical components of their professional development. Matt's contributions to social work education are demonstrated through his teaching of both bachelor's and master's level courses at institutions including Ottawa University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
