Mike Maletis, MSW, LCSW

Michael Maletis has been adjunct lecturer at UWM since 2013. He earned his MSW from the Helen Bader School of Social Welfare at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Since 2006, Michael has worked for Milwaukee County Crisis Services in different capacities including the children's mental health crisis team and Milwaukee County Access Clinics. In these roles, Michael has worked with children and families to complete assessments, crisis intervention, de-escalation, safety planning and linking with services/resources. He has also worked in the emergency room of Children's Wisconsin as a social worker for three years.

Michael helped implement the Child Development Community Policing program in Milwaukee's District 7, in which clinicians collaborate with police officers to provide a rapid response and intervention for children and families exposed to violence in the community. In all of these roles, clients who have experienced trauma has been a common theme.
