Julie A. Bock, MSSW, LCSW

Bio:
Julie Bock (she/they) joined the faculty in the Social Work Department at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2025, and teaches both undergraduate and graduate level courses. She is the Co-Advisor for the Student Social Work Association and serves on the Qualified Treatment Trainees (QTT) Grants Program Committee. Julie has also served as an adjunct instructor in the program since 2019.
Julie has more than 35 years of professional experience. She is a post-secondary educator with extensive subject-matter expertise and significant experience teaching at both undergraduate and master’s levels. She is also a seasoned senior executive with deep leadership and management knowledge, particularly within mid-sized nonprofit organizations focused on youth services and advocacy. Lastly, she is an experienced presenter at local, state, and national levels across a broad range of topics.
Previous professional experience:
Direct service social work, including child abuse and neglect investigations, juvenile probation and parole, family court custody assessments, and participation in multidisciplinary teams.
Public health education, specializing in LGBTQIA+ health, HIV/AIDS, STIs, women’s health, suicide prevention, crisis intervention, and human sexuality/gender identity.
Nonprofit leadership, with responsibilities for budgeting, program development and implementation, grant writing and reporting, staff supervision, and strategic planning.
Nonprofit board service, including roles with the Wisconsin Alumni Association–Milwaukee Chapter, the Wisconsin AIDS Fund, the Milwaukee Animal Rescue Center, and The First Unitarian Society of Milwaukee.
