The Panther Edge Internship places UWM students in paid intern roles at a variety of partner organizations. At its core, the Panther Edge Internship is a work-based learning experience that maximizes the benefits for both interns and employer partners. All interested off campus organizations are encouraged to become a partner.

Sponsorship Opportunities and Benefits

We invite organizations to further support the Panther Edge Internship through
sponsorship, which will maximize the impact on the UWM and greater Milwaukee
communities. Sponsors can obtain the following benefits, varying based on the
contribution:

    • Access to all intern applicant resumes
    • Prioritized interviewing
    • Opportunity to host interview days on campus

Cost for Employers

  • For profit $6,000 contribution per intern hired
    • After two years of partnership, contribution is reduced to $3,000 per intern hired
  • Non-Profit and Public Agency $1,500 contribution per intern hired

General Program Timeline

  • March – April: Employer onboarding, information sessions, and contracting (process continues on a rolling basis throughout the summer and into the fall and spring semesters).
  • May – June: Job posting solicitation and initial outreach to student applicants by UWM.
  • July – August: Applicant pool development and initial screening by employer and onboarding to UWM payroll.
  • September: Intern screening and initial work begins. Interns enroll in the internship course; internship work continues while allotment of funds remain.

Partners can continue to join and post positions on a rolling basis.
