Universities across the country honor National Student Employment week doing free/low-cost things like these the following listed.

  • Decorate your office! Once you sign up your student team for Panthers at Work week, we’ll provide you with free decoration materials.
  • Give your student employees a round of applause at your next staff meeting to show appreciation.
  • Send a handwritten thank-you note to let your student employees know how much you value their hard work. You can also send an e-card with your appreciation.
  • Take a picture of each student employee and post it on the bulletin board in the break room, along with a note about why you’re thankful for them.
  • Prepare “care packages” with snacks like crackers, cookies, trail mix, or candy to show appreciation.
  • Host an awards ceremony and create fun categories (e.g., Best Attendance, Best Customer Service, Most Organized, etc.). You can also add some lighthearted categories like Best Advice-Giver or Funniest Employee. For prizes, you could use quirky items like “white elephant” gifts.
  • Share your appreciation on social media by posting about your student employees.
  • Make a thank-you video to send to your student employees.
  • Take a screenshot of a team meeting in Microsoft Teams, where everyone holds up a sign showing appreciation for the student employees.
  • Create a big thank-you card for your staff to sign. Write the names of the student employees and have everyone share what they appreciate most about them.
  • Let students choose the music for the office to play for the day.
  • Thank your students in person for their hard work and contributions to your department.
  • Change the department phone message to recognize your student employees.
