Supporting International Students Webinar

The Center for Student Experience and Talent (SET) will stream a webinar from the National Association of Colleges and Employers on the topic of international students and is inviting campus to watch. Please let us know if you’ll be attending below to help us understand the interest surrounding this topic. Learn how to empower international students in their careers with strategies on immigration regulations, employer communication, and alternative learning opportunities.

Webinar description:

Join this webinar to discover actionable strategies for empowering international students in their career journeys. This session covers key immigration regulations, strategies for communicating with employers, and alternative experiential learning opportunities, such as case studies and certifications. The University of Michigan University Career Center & International Center teams will highlight efforts and strategic initiatives to empower international students.

Following this program, you will be able to:

  • Understand immigration regulations: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the various work authorizations available to international students and how these regulations impact their employment opportunities in the United States.
  • Learn disclosure strategies: Participants will learn how to effectively coach students on discussing immigration status with potential employers, including the importance of disclosure and the legal rights of employees under USCIS guidelines.
  • Leveraging resources for career success: Participants will explore experiential learning opportunities and specialized workshops to help international students navigate the U.S. job market and build a successful career path despite work authorization limitations.
