Science Bag was launched in 1973 by UWM Physics Professors Robert Greenler and Glenn Schmieg with a vision to ignite a passion for science among young minds. Since its inception, it has successfully engaged over 150,000 attendees through dynamic presentations by UWM faculty from various science disciplines. These captivating sessions have covered a wide array of topics, including the physics of bicycling, the spectrum of visible and invisible colors in our world, the intriguing sounds of insects, and much more.

Today, the Science Bag is committed to expanding its offerings to create even greater impact. By fostering connections between K-12 students, teachers, and UWM researchers through dynamic community engagement activities, the program empowers middle and high school students to engage with scientific research in real-world contexts. This hands-on experience is designed to ignite their curiosity and inspire the next generation of scientists. Together, we can cultivate a love for science that will shape future innovators and leaders in the field.
