Biography

Aaron Tobey holds a PhD in architecture history and theory from Yale University and a Master of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. He has taught at Yale, the Rhode Island School of Design, Colorado College. His research, design, and teaching practices draw on media theory, histories of technology and organizational management to offer insights on the role of computer graphics systems in shaping the built environment and efforts to systematically structure the design process by business managers and academic theorists. Aaron’s work has received awards from the Graham Foundation and has been published in Architecture Theory Review, Architecture and Culture, the Journal of Architectural Education and the Harvard Design Magazine among others. He is currently preparing a book manuscript based on his dissertation entitled “Drawing Management: Corporate Organization, International Practice, and the Making of Computer Aided Design.”
