Interests & Expertise

Phyllis King is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs for the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, a Professor in the College of Health Sciences, the Associate Director for the Center for Ergonomics and the Director of Campus Ergonomics Services.

Her research interests focus on the prevention of work-related injuries through the application of ergonomics. She provides ergonomic consultation and training services to a variety of industries including healthcare, manufacturing and hospitality.

Current research has focused on product design, usability testing, safe patient handling and measuring the physiological effects of work. She recently co-authored a chapter in the American Medical Association’s (AMA) book entitled Guide to the Evaluation of Functional Ability.
