Interests and Expertise

Cindy August has maintained a scholarly focus on school-based practice for occupational therapy and advocates for inclusive education. Cindy embraces the social model of disability and believes that a paradigm shift from traditional deficit orientation of disability to a more nuanced understanding of disability will fundamentally change how occupational therapists engage with the disability community. Cindy continues both an academic and practical focus on all aspects of human and social conditions which shape and define the lives of all people domestically and globally.
