Can I complete coursework that can be submitted for evaluation as part of the AASP Mental Performance Consultant application?

Yes. Should you wish to complete all the coursework that covers content for all eight knowledge areas, you will be required to complete more than 30 credits during your degree. The final number of credits will depend on your undergraduate courses, and whether you choose a thesis or a capstone option for your MS-RST SPP.

Can I complete mentored experience as part of the MS-RST SPP degree?

It depends. All students are required to take PRPP854 Professional Studies in Sport & Performance Psychology (3 credits) as part of their specialization courses. Completion of PRPP854 (3 credits) will typically provide students with approximately 50 hours towards mentored experience hours. Any additional Mentored Experience is possible, and will be planned in collaboration between the student and their Mentored Experience Supervisor.

Can I maintain a job while I complete the MS-RST SPP degree?

It depends. Many students work part-time during the academic year. It is important to consider your course load and possible mentored experiences when considering employment. As per UWM Credit Hour Policy, each one (1) semester credit represents an investment of time by the average student of not fewer than 48 hours. This equals to a minimum of 10 hours/week of commitment for a standard 3-credit course over semester.
