The philosophy program at UWM offers a welcoming environment where students can explore their philosophical interests. Students will study both the classical texts of the philosophical canon as well as contemporary thinkers. Support and career advice is provided by a student-oriented faculty. Students can join the Philosophy Club, an undergraduate student organization, which provides a vibrant community for students interested in philosophy. Club activities include student-led presentations, film screenings, roundtable discussions, and presentations from guest speakers.

Students can explore a variety of academic and career interests and goals with faculty and the undergraduate program advisor. The department offers regular presentations by philosophy graduates from a variety of fields to help students decide how they can best capitalize on their degree.

Undergraduate students can pursue their major or minor in Philosophy at UWM, as well as a certificate in Ethics, Values, and Society. Students interested in graduate studies can earn their Master of Arts in Philosophy. For more information on each of our degree programs, please see our student resources section.
