Lapham Hall Network Maintenance – March 24, 2026 9:00AM to 5:00PM

On Tuesday March 24, 2026 starting at 9:00AM CDT Network Services technicians will be working in Lapham Hall to upgrade network links within the building. Many of the telecommunication rooms in Lapham Hall are currently connected via legacy fiber optic cabling in an obsolete design that exacerbates network congestion and leads to problems supporting modern technology. These connectivity issues pose a risk to reliable network access and a plan is being enacted to redesign the network in the building.

Technicians will be changing out existing links from network switches supporting each floor for new more direct and efficient uplinks. While older fiber optic cables are removed and new links are connected, there will be network interruptions throughout the building. Technicians have prepared all relevant hardware and configurations ahead of time to minimize disruption. Each interruption should only last as long as it takes to migrate network switches to new connections, a few minutes or so, and no cabling changes will be made to any end devices.
