Internet Access Outage – 0600 to 0614 – June 30, 2026

During UW SysNet router upgrades this morning, UWM’s primary connection to the internet was interrupted. Our backup routes activated in less than a second, but something went wrong and it appears that our internal routers failed to update.

UWM was not disconnected from the world, and incoming routes were active, but devices on UWM’s network would not have been able to reach the internet for about 15 minutes. This includes cloud services and connectivity to outside vendors.

We have weathered similar interruptions in the past without any outages and network engineering is looking into what was different this time and why internal routes did not update properly so we can avoid repeat events in the future.
