UWMWiFi and eduroam encryption change

The certificate that handles encryption for UWMWifi and eduroam expires on Sunday. UITS Network Engineering will renew it Thursday night (8/1). Most modern devices should handle the change transparently. Some older devices or operating systems may have problems connecting to these wireless networks after the change. People may need to configure devices to forget and rejoin UWMWiFi and/or eduroam after this change. Unfortunately there is no way to avoid this and no way to extend expiration.

Some devices may lose the ability to connect to UWMWiFi or eduroam after the new certificate is in place. The solution in almost all cases is to go into the appropriate control panel or configuration and “forget” or delete the UWMWiFi and eduroam networks, and then rejoin as if it were the first time the device is connecting.

Most devices should not need this intervention and will reconnect with the new encryption transparently without users noticing.
