Emergency Network Maintenance – Physics Building

A number of hardware failures have occurred affecting network infrastructure in the Physics Building on the UWM Kenwood Campus. Workarounds have been enacted to maintain service during the past week, and this maintenance is planned to permanently replace obsolete equipment with new hardware.

New equipment has been staged and pre-configured to facilitate rapid replacement and UITS Network Engineering and Services staff will replace the majority of network equipment in the Physics Building during this maintenance window. This work will cause some interruption of access to and from network resources, ethernet and wi-fi, in the building during the maintenance window. Outages may not last the entire window, and may repeat throughout the work. Service interruptions should not affect any clients outside the Physics Building. All measures have been taken to minimize disruption while balancing access to resources to complete the work as efficiently as possible.

During this maintenance widow, users and devices in the Physics Building on the UWM Kenwood Campus will see one or more interruptions of access to and from all network resources as infrastructure is physically replaced. These outages will affect all network types, ethernet and wi-fi, in the building.
