UWMVisitor Wi-Fi replacement with UWMGuest

Early in the morning of June 2, 2026 the UWMVisitor Wi-Fi network will be retired and replaced with a new portal-based Wi-Fi network for use by people without UWM credentials, named UWMGuest.

UWMVisitor will no longer be available in most UWM buildings. UWMGuest will appear as a portal-based network for users without UWM credentials. Those users should connect to UWMGuest and open a web browser to activate a session.

Users with UWM credentials are encouraged to use eduroam or UWMWiFi networks. Both the old UWMVisitor and the new UWMGuest networks have limited access and lack security compared to UWM’s authenticated Wi-Fi networks.

Certain buildings using older Wi-Fi infrastructure may still see UWMVisitor active. As the network hardware in those buildings is upgraded over the summer those areas will also transition to UWMGuest.
