Emergency Firewall Maintenance – May 13, 2026 11:00PM – Midnight

In order to ensure the security and stability of network access at UW-Milwaukee, emergency upgrades will be made to firewalls across the university starting at 11:00PM this evening.

There may be short interruptions during this maintenance affecting all networks, Wi-Fi and Ethernet, in all buildings, as well as VPN access remotely.

This work is scheduled at short notice to mitigate the risk of more damaging unplanned outages.

System upgrades will take place across clustered, redundant devices. Network interruptions in most cases should be minimal, on the order of a few seconds to a minute.

VPN portal access may be interrupted for a longer period of time during this maintenance due to the current integration of the technology.
